1. What is the Agentforce Specialist Certification?

The Agentforce Specialist certification validates your ability to design, build, and deploy autonomous AI agents on the Salesforce platform. It focuses on the practical configuration skills a specialist uses day to day — from setting up an agent and grounding it in trusted data, to wiring up actions, applying guardrails, and shipping safely to production.

It is a role-based credential: rather than testing abstract theory, it asks you to choose the right capability for a given business scenario. That is why scenario-based practice — not rote memorisation — is the most effective way to prepare.

2. Who should take this exam?

The certification suits anyone responsible for delivering Agentforce solutions:

  • Salesforce Admins extending their skills into AI agent configuration.
  • Developers who build custom actions and integrations for agents.
  • Consultants & Architects designing agent solutions for clients.
  • AI Specialists formalising hands-on Agentforce experience with a credential.

Note: Salesforce refreshed the Agentforce Specialist exam in the Spring ’26 release — always confirm the current domains and weightings on the official exam guide before you sit it.

5. Key concepts explained

Agent setup & topics

An agent is organised into topics, each scoping a set of instructions and actions. Understanding how the agent classifies an utterance into a topic — and how instructions steer behaviour within it — is foundational.

Prompt templates & grounding

Grounding injects trusted Salesforce data into a prompt at runtime. Know the difference between record-based grounding, related-list grounding, and retrieval over unstructured content in Data Cloud.

Actions & guardrails

Actions let an agent do work — run a flow, call Apex, invoke a prompt. Guardrails, field-level security, and sharing rules keep that work safe and scoped to the running user.

6. Study plan and timeline

A focused four-week plan works well for most people (~5–7 hours a week). Compress or extend it to suit your experience — Salesforce's official trailmix takes roughly 30–60 hours end to end.

WEEK 1 Foundations & agent concepts

Learn how agents work: the Atlas Reasoning Engine, topics, actions, and agent types. Set up your first agent in a Trailhead Playground. Read sections 1–5 of this guide and start the official credential trailmix.

WEEK 2 Prompt engineering & grounding

Master Prompt Builder and the template types (Sales Email, Field Generation, Record Summary, Flex). Practise grounding prompts in records and in Data Cloud retrievers and data libraries — this is the single heaviest-weighted area.

WEEK 3 Actions, guardrails, lifecycle & channels

Build custom actions with Flow and Apex. Understand the Einstein Trust Layer, sharing and field-level security, testing in the Agentforce Testing Center, and deploying sandbox → production. Review the Service and Sales agent use cases.

WEEK 4 Practise & review

Sit full 60-question mock exams under timed conditions. Review every explanation, note the domains where you drop marks, and re-study those. Aim to clear 73% comfortably on two or three exams in a row before booking.

7. Tips for exam day

  • Read every scenario twice — the right answer hinges on one detail.
  • Flag and skip; never let one question burn five minutes.
  • Eliminate obviously wrong options first to improve your odds.
  • Watch the timer, but don't rush — there's no negative marking.

8. Free practice questions

The fastest way to find your gaps is to answer real, exam-style questions with full explanations. We've published a free set you can work through right now — no account required.

9. Frequently asked questions

How many questions are on the exam and what's the pass mark?
Around 60 multiple-choice / multi-select questions, with a 105-minute time limit and a passing score of 73%. There's no negative marking. Salesforce can adjust these between releases, so confirm the current figures on the official exam guide.
How much does it cost, and can I retake it?
Registration is around US$200 with a reduced retake fee (about US$100), plus local taxes. You can sit it via online proctoring or at a testing centre. Always check current pricing when you register with Salesforce.
Do I need hands-on experience before I sit it?
It's strongly recommended. The exam is scenario-based, so time spent building agents, prompt templates, and actions in a Trailhead Playground or sandbox pays off far more than memorising definitions.
How long does it take to prepare?
Most people need roughly 30–60 hours depending on their Salesforce background. Working the official Trailhead trailmix end to end, then drilling scenario questions, is the most efficient path — see the four-week plan above.
Are these practice questions the real exam questions?
No. Every question on AI Exam Center is original and written for study purposes only. They mirror the style, difficulty, and topic weighting of the real exam without reproducing any actual exam content.
What's the best way to prepare?
Combine three things: the official Trailhead training (section 10), hands-on practice in a Playground, and repeated scenario-based mock exams so you get used to picking the right capability under time pressure.
